Coffee Club Network

Coffee Club is a networking group hosted by The Fruita Chamber, FWorks, & The Business Incubator Center, on the third Friday of every month at 9:00 am in the Fworks meeting room (upstairs of the civic center @ 325 E. Aspen Ave.) Coffee will be provided for all who attend! This month, we will be hearing from Michael Philipp.

Michael has been calling the Western Slope home since 2006. With more than a decade of experience in business valuation, Michael has been appraising businesses for sales, tax, and litigation purposes. He has work experience in public accounting and works as a business broker. Michael has given expert witness testimony in several counties on the Western Slope regarding business values and other financial matters regarding businesses.

Michael understands why a business is important to an owner and he wants to help business owners to transition into retirement through either a business sale or other options that work best.

Michael graduated with an Economics degree in Germany and an Accounting degree from the University of Central Arkansas. He has served on the board of the Grand Junction Symphony and the Grand Junction Symphony Foundation. He is a member of the International Business Broker Association, International Society of Business Appraisers, Exit Planning Institute, National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Workshop overview:
How is the value of my business determined?
In this workshop, I want to show each business owner how the value of a business is determined. What numbers are looked at and why. I will use hands-on examples of how tax returns and financial statements are used to determine what a business is worth. I will provide copies of C-Corporation, S-Corporation, and LLC Returns, and show where the most important information is coming from.
I will finally show how a buyer will look at the business value.
