About Us

The Lower Valley Fire District and the town of Fruita organized a fire district in 1973. The district split from the town in 1980 became a separate district. Both volunteer and paid positions make up the district and provide fire protection and emergency medical services. A Board of Directors consisting of five elected members governs the district.

Located approximately 10 miles northwest of Grand Junction, the City of Fruita features some of the most varied outdoor recreation opportunities in the state of Colorado. Fruita is a great place to live and raise a family.

Population of the district is axproamenly 25,000 persons. Within a 5-mile radius of Station 31, the district serves 12,881 people in an area that is slightly less than 6 square miles. Coverage of the district amounts to approximately 400 square miles of fire and EMS services. In addition, Lower Valley Fire District is contracted by Garfield County and Grand County Utah to provide fire and EMS services.

We operate out of two fire stations; Station 31 is staffed full time, station 32 is our satellite station. Station 31 is located in Fruita and houses three ambulances, two engines, one brush truck, one water tender, one ladder, two river boats, two ATV’s and our antique truck. Station 32 is five miles to the west in Loma and houses one water tender/ structure engine and one brush truck.
