Online/Virtual Tutor (All Subjects)

About the Role 

Driven to make a difference in how students see their potential? Want to help kids develop understanding and confidence? 

Tutors attach meaning to concepts to increase learning. Our best work is done when students are empowered to use tools and strategies for independent success. 

Tutors will plan and implement lesson plans. You’ll collaborate with the child’s teacher and parents, when possible. Lessons are taught live via video conference & collaborative software.

Role Requirements

  • Ability to plan an individualized lesson that is engaging and supportive

  • Experience with google suite (docs, sheets, calendar, & gmail)

  • Content mastery of the subject or test being taught. 

  • Communication with students and families about progress

  • Access to a reliable computer, capable of simultaneously running a video conference and google suite

  • Access to reliable and strong internet connection

  • Access to areas to host the online lessons with no background noises or distractions   

  • Schedule Flexibility 

Additional Duties

  • Creating and delivering post lesson reports to families 

  • Checking in with fellow staff for professional development as needed

  • Collaborate with student’s teachers and family for lesson planning

Experience & Education

  • BA, MA preferred, or relevant experience teaching mathematics and/or reading subjects

  • Completion of courses that cover the concepts you’re teaching each day

  • Higher level of mathematics and/or reading competency

  • SAT/ACT concept familiarity preferred

  • Experience supporting students in individualized tutoring 

  • Online conferencing experience 

 

Compensation

  • $40-45 per hour (depending on experience and subject being taught)

 

Work hours 

  • Lessons are typically one hour and arranged at a mutually convenient time for both the tutor and the student

  • Prep time and lesson review range from 15-30 min total 

Supervision Given/Received

  • Be comfortable with supervision through zoom conferencing with supervisor, tutor, and student during live lessons.
